How can i come out with a proper learning agreement and proposal ??

Alright, for the past two week, i admit that i have wasted some time. Meanwhile, I did some reading on the film production.

Borrowed these four books from the library on 1st of Oct and manage to finish one and a quater.
What i find interesting in the first book is that ''Copyright'' had a period and need to be renewed. I find this is quite funny as it doesnt make any sense. Other than that is just the procedure to make a film from the starting to the end. I will share more about the content of these book from time to time as this post i would like to focus on the interview I did.

Deepest apologies to Mr.Leong as I fail to visit all the important places as promised due to transportation problem. Taking public transport is a waste of time as i still fall behind the track too in design project class. Will try my best to visit Mediaprima, Klpac and Istana budaya by end of the week or next week. I am going back hometown on thursday noon to get my ride up KL, will reach before 11am on friday :)

Last Friday, 11st of October, i had a interview session with Ms.Ivy from KeeStudio. I met Ivy during my internship at ZebraSquare KL as a event designer and coordinator. KeeStudio is incharge on one of the big event 2013 Miss Chinese Cosmos South East Asia, and they also got the bid for local artist Black Mentor wedding introduction video. Their studio is located at Petaling Jaya and I am very lucky that Ivy replied my whassap right after I email her.
So, this is a very short interview regarding ''The weaknesses of the film industry in Malaysia''

I joined some community projects before so i rarely know how to conduct a proper interview but correct me if I am wrong.

Steps:
1. Research
2. Prepare question
3. Make appointment & send question over in advance
4. Interview and record
5. Compile information & write up
6. Verifying

I left all the namecards in office when i left ZebraSquare and that day was too rush till I forgot to ask one from Ivy. But I will get one from her when I meet her again for verifying her thought. Thanks Ms.Ivy for her time and willing to meet me up at centrepoint.

William : Can you explain how industry film can improve or raise the economic status of a country?
Ivy          : When our film had sale or displayed in other countries, it indirectly highlights through the world. Of course the economy will be stronger with the inclusion of other national currencies. For my opinion, nation’s economy will rise when Malaysia become a major film destination in the worlds. You see, Malaysia has location that are very attractive such as Pulau Redang, Pulau Pangkor and all those historical places. The government gave a lot of funds to develop the creative industries, especially film. This is the government’s effort to mobilize capital and innovation-based economy through sales and foreign films.
William : Do you think Malaysia film are simply profit entertainment only? Or providing benefits to the issuer.
Ivy          : I think, it benefit both sides. But most importantly is to give satisfaction to the general audience. Because when the audience satisfied with the film they watched, it shown our industry film have a quality and improved. Actually, satisfaction of the audience is the profit in the entertainment world. Many people out there love to watch movie. And we can see when a new film on screen in cinema, so many people queue for the tickets. But we never watch a film without knowledge about it, am I right? Although, you are not media student or film people but you still must have the knowledge about this industry, at least a bit. Then, after you watch the film, you can criticize. That’s why people google for movie review and feedback before get a ticket and that’s why small studio like us read every single youtube’s comment to improve ourselves.
William : What do you think the main factor caused the film industry in Malaysia weak?
Ivy          : I think is caused by our own sense of community. This is because our community do not support local film. They rather watch film from the western country just like recently the famous release, Fast and Furious series, Pacific rims, Marvel’s story. This is because they think that film from west are more high quality and more action compare to our local film.
William : Have you ever heard about the high and low context culture?
Ivy          : Yes. Most people watch foreign films which show their high-context cultures, and watch movies on their views in the country is something that is not popular and glamor. This will result in Malaysia movie received poor response from local residents.
William : What do you think people saying local film cant look real or in simple word it cannot let the audience enter the film of story?
Ivy          : Do you watch ‘’Cicak man’’? It is quite good our people can make such 3D fim. But when you see the storyline, it this the same with outside film. We are copying their story and make our own. And of course, we still using the old concept to make film.
William : What do you means by using the old concept?

Ivy          : What I means is we local producer still use the same idea to make film. When you see the rating film in Malaysia, the concept about a film is still same. Our film surely talk about love, sadness then happy ending. Our industry also lack of money to make such big movie.

About the Film industry - Skillset

About the Film industry - Skillset

Reading this webpage get to know more about filming.

From what i understand, film industry refer to six different component which are Development, Production, Facilities, Distribution, Exhibition and Export. I will mainly focus on production part without ignoring the others. Production carry high percentage in the whole process as the quality of end product is depend on this stage.

Somehow, production involves several major stages : Development, Pre-production, Production and Post-Production. Scenic design majorly will be at the pre-production and post-production part. According to wikipedia, the team involved are a lot and all are depend on the production budget.

This website is an educational website providing training and course for people to sign up for better filmmaking in UK. As I conclude in this short writing, I can say that the education on filming is very important to develop a good film because we need the skills to project our creativity in filming.

p/s:- cant find any similar website for Malaysian by Malaysian, hence local production mostly cannot go to international level.

Hollywoods History of Faking It | The Evolution of Greenscreen Compositing

Personally I love how the early film processes came to be and how people back then produce shots like King Kong. From time to time, producer is working on a better way to set a film with technologies and techniques to produce a more realistic movie. The demand of entertainment from the people keep the industry going to a high level and education on scenic design came along. In my thesis, i will start with finding how a local producer get a movie done from A to Z.
